Select the content to display in a rendering portlet under
the Content section.
- To display the content of a content item, select Content
Item.
- Click Edit under the Content section
to select the content item to display.
- Click Edit under the Alternate
Presentation Template section to select an alternate presentation
template to use when the content item is displayed. If no alternate
presentation is selected, the content item is displayed using its
default presentation template.
- To display the content of a component, select Component.
- Click Edit under the Component section
to select the component to display.
- Click Edit under the Content section
to select the content item to use to give the selected component a
context. For example, if a content item called "news" is selected
as the context for a navigator, when the portal page is first opened,
the navigator behaves as if "news" is the current content item. You
are required to select a content item even for components that do
not require context, such as HTML components.
- To display the content of an element stored in a content
item, select Element.
- Click Edit under the Content section
to select the content item.
- Click Edit under the Element section
to select the element to display from the selected content item.
Note: This option is designed to display text-based elements
such as an HTML element in a portlet. Care should be taken when displaying
elements that contain links. If one of the links displayed in the
element changes the context to a content item that does not reference
the element, you may receive an "Could not find the specified content
component: link" error. To use this option with elements containing
links, all the content linked from your element must also reference
this element.
